How to set it up

Add SankeyArt to Gemini

Add SankeyArt as a custom connector on gemini.google.com and link your SankeyArt account; a free one is enough. It works on every Gemini plan, the free one included.

  1. On gemini.google.com, open Customise, go to Connectors and click + Custom.
  2. Enter this URL and click Next:
    https://mcp.sankeyart.com/
  3. Check that Gemini shows your Google account and click Connect, then sign in to SankeyArt or create a free account.
  4. In a chat, type @SankeyArt and ask for a Sankey diagram. Gemini answers with a link that opens it in the SankeyArt editor.

What to ask Gemini

Write as you would to a colleague. A few prompts to start with:

  • Turn this income statement into a Sankey diagram.
  • Draw a Sankey diagram of Demo Corp's income statement in $M: revenue 1,000, cost of revenue 600, operating expenses 250, income tax 30, net income 120.
  • Rename Operating expenses to OpEx and make the cost items orange.
  • Draw a Sankey diagram of my monthly budget in €: salary 4,000 and side job 500; rent 1,400, groceries 600, transport 250, leisure 400, and I save the rest.

Frequently asked questions

SankeyArt isn't in Gemini's list of connectors yet. Until it is, you add it yourself as a custom connector, which takes a minute. Google shows a notice that it hasn't reviewed custom connectors; SankeyArt works the same either way.

Yes, drawing diagrams is free on every Gemini plan, the free one included. You need a free SankeyArt account, which you create when you add SankeyArt, and diagrams carry a small SankeyArt watermark. With a SankeyArt subscription your diagrams have no watermark, and Gemini saves them in your SankeyArt account and opens them from there.

Not in the chat: Gemini answers with a link that opens the diagram in the SankeyArt editor, where you can fine-tune it and export it for your slides and reports. Before it saves or changes a diagram in your account, Gemini asks you first.

With a Google Workspace account, your admin may have to allow custom connectors first. In Gemini Enterprise, an admin adds SankeyArt for the whole team as an MCP server, with the same URL.

Only the diagram Gemini draws: the names and amounts of its items. SankeyArt doesn't see the rest of your conversation or the files you give Gemini. Read more in our privacy policy.
